What is Chiropractic?
Chiropractic is natural modality of health care concerned with the diagnosis, management and prevention of mechanical disorders of the musculoskeletal system; this includes the effects of these disorders on the function of the nervous system and general health. It is based on the premise that the body can respond appropriately to its environment provided that the nervous system is free of interference. Chiropractors focus on the detection and correction of aberrant spinal function and its subsequent effect on how the nervous system controls and coordinates the body.
Do you have a spine? Do you have a brain? YES. So what are you doing to look after them? Chiropractic is what looks after and maintains the health of the most vital system of the body - the nervous system - which is made up of your brain and spinal cord. Your incredible nervous system coordinates actions through the transmission of signals throughout the body. It serves as an inner communication tool, as it provides information to the brain and guides the body to react accordingly and appropriately.Everything that we do is determined by what is happening in the nervous system. It is accountable for the way in which we experience senses, taste, smell, touch, sound and sight; our movements and the functioning of our organs is also regulated by our nervous system, as it is the control centre of the body.
Why See A Chiropractor?
Spinal 'subluxations' are misalignments in the spine that affect the way the brain communicates with the rest of the body. These interferences may cause the body to be in a state of disharmony or dis-ease. This may be experienced as pain, discomfort or tension in the body or expressed over time as chronic heath related conditions.
When it comes to symptoms and pain seeing a chiropractor will help you understand the root cause of these issues as we assess the current health of your body. We find the root cause of your complaints by looking at your body as a whole. As we assess the health of your spine and nervous system you may notice we focus on your physical, emotional and chemical history to gather the full picture of your health and body.
While chiropractic does not cure any diseases or treat symptoms through chiropractic adjustments, over time, research studies have found that chiropractic adjustments can create a positive effect on the overall body and nervous system, which might also lead to correcting nervous system dysfunction.
Dr Dana Salih Toogood
“When our bodies are in a state of balance - physically, emotionally and spiritually, we feel a sense of joy, we have more time for our loved ones, we excel in our purpose and work, all the while being a better version of self.”
Dr Dana is a mother and a holistic chiropractor who is passionate about women’s health and wellness. She has been providing holistic chiropractic care to families in Melbourne for the last 7 years empowering them to live naturally and well by ensuring the body is in a state of balance.
As a chiropractor Dr Dana recognises the human body as a self healing organism that thrives to be in a state of balance and harmony and furthermore has an interconnectedness to all things including the mind and the environment in which we live. Everyday we are continuously exposed to stress - physically, chemically and emotional - and the body experiences a continuous disruption in the flow of energy and information within the nervous system. This creates a state of 'dis-ease' in our bodies which may be expressed as pain, discomfort or chronic illness. Dr Dana believes chiropractic care plays a vital role by supporting our nervous system to deal with these stressors.
By empowering and educating her patients to tune into these “body whispers" of pain and discomfort Dr Dana believes that this connection from within is what re-establishes a healthy flow of innate intelligence through the nervous system. Beginning our healing journeys here.
Dr Dana's work focuses on neuroscience, the emotional brain & how subconscious patterns of conditioned belief systems influence our health and well-being. She graduated from the New Zealand College of Chiropractic with a Bachelor degree in Chiropractic and has attended the Inspiral Pediatric Seminar which focuses on pediatric neuroscience and development. She utilises Neuro Emotional Technique (NET) a mind-body approach to help stress related conditions. She is continuously learning and building her skills in chiropractic as she attends yearly seminars.
She also has an interest in Chakra centres of healing and utilises essential oils as part of her healing in practice.
Whether you are seeking pain relief or wanting to live a more enriched life, Dr Dana believes that through chiropractic care alignment within the body can lead to us connecting to our truest SELF hence allowing us to live a more vibrant and fulfilled life. She is passionate about creating a more connected, coherent and conscious community of people through chiropractic care.
